Matej Arendárik 
Was born in Banská Bystrica. As a child he received various awards at Slovak and international interpretation competitions and he took part in several tours abroad. He studied at the Concervatoire in Žilina (Darina Švárna) and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (Marián Lapšanský).During his studies he participated in a lot of competitions; in 2000 he got fi rst prize and the title of absolute winner at the Competition of Slovak Conservatoire Students, he was a fi nalist of the Fryderyk Chopin International Competition in Mariánské Lázně (1997 and 1999), he was awarded second prize at the international competition XXV Concorso intenazionale di esecuzione pianistica in Agropoli, Italy (October 2002), third prize, laureate title and Czech Music Fund Award at one of the most prestigious international competitions Prague Spring (2004), third prize at the international competition Concorso intenazionale di esecuzione pianistica (October 2005) in Gorizia, Italy. He is also an active chamber music player. As a member of piano duo he got second prize at the Schubert International Piano Duo Competition in Jeseník (1999) and with Alexej Rosík – violinist – they have received Honourable mention at the international radio competition Concertino Praga. He has performed as a soloist with the Slovak Philharmonic, Slovak Sinfonietta Žilina, Plzeň Philharmonic, Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of the National Theatre in Prague; under conductors like Oliver Dohnányi, Petr Vronský, Leoš Svárovský, Jiří Malát, Mario Košík. He regularly co-operates with various chamber ensembles and performs in the Czech Republic and abroad. He actively participates in international interpretation courses of renowned artistic personalities (Karl Heinz Kaemmerling, Mikhail Voskresensky, Eugen Indjič, Boris Berman, Piotr Paleczny, Peter Eicher, Robert Roux, etc.). He took part in the international courses International Holland Music Sessions (2006), where he was invited to perform in prestigious concert halls in the Netherlands (Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Diligentia Haag) and other European countries in the season 2007/2008 as a part of the series New Masters on Tour. His profi le CD with the works of Suchoň, Janáček, Zeljenka, Brahms and Liszt was released by Diskant (2008).
